I once heard that the reason people call him Adam is because when they were recording the scene where he turns back into a prince, the VO name was "Adam" instead of "Beast". That's just what I heard though, so I may be completely wrong.

If you watch the Making of section of the DVD, Glen Keene (supervising animator) refers to him as Adam as well as all the Disney trivia games to date. The Vincent rumor came from people misinterpreting the scroll work over the stained Glass from the prologue asuming it was the name of the prince.

On all our style sheets at work he's referred to as Prince Vincent or Beast Prince. Also On most Pin Design work he's also Vincent. Disney's official stance is he has no name, much like Snow Prince. (We call him Fredrick)

on the D-Show (a disney sanctioned computer trivia game), there is a specific game where a disney character is displayed but all scrambled up. The photo eventually rights itself and you need to guess (from the multiple choices given) who's in the photo before it becomes totally clear. The answer to that question is PRINCE ADAM.

I'm not saying you're wrong or all those sheets are... Just saying what the Disney approved trivia answer is.

I heard that his name is Vincent. My Dad and I were talking about Beauty and the Beast and he referred to Beast as Vincent. Adam might be another way of Disney being special. They do like to change names around and make up characters to make it more kiddy like.

perhaps it was supposed to be pronounced Aw-dum; as we had a kid in school whose name was spelt Adam but his mom insisted it was "french" and pronounced like above?

Okay...He has a new name now. I'm calling Vincent Adam Von Namechanger.

Vincent was the name of the "Beast" in the Beauty and the Beast live action television show in the 90's starring Linda Hamilton. No wonder everyone is getting confused!
